After a slow start in his 2nd season with Columbus Blue Jackets, 2008 5th round pick (#127 overall), winger Matt Calvert(9) was reassigned to their AHL affiliate Springfield Falcons. He appeared in 4 games but failed to register a point. Still, he was recently called back up when a couple others players were sent down.
Last season he split time with the two teams almost equally playing 38 games in the AHL (13 goals, 12 assists) and 42 in the NHL (11 goals, 9 assists).
He’s not the most imposing force out there at 5’9″ 164 lbs. and will definitely need to bulk up a bit more to hit his stride. One thing is for sure though, this kid’s got skills.
