Colorado Avalanche‘ 2nd round pick in the 2010 draft (#49 overall) rookie goaltender Calvin Pickard(31) has been a workhorse in net through his junior career and the pace didn’t slow in his first pro year.
In 40 games between the pipes for AHL affiliate Lake Erie Monsters so far this season, he has a 16-17-5 record and a 2.55 GAA and .916 SV%.
The 6’1″ 195 lbs. net minder has been recalled on a couple of occasions to take warm-ups and ride back-up but has yet to see any NHL action. That could change as the season plays itself out. He may get the nod if the Avalanche are out of the playoff hunt.
The soon-to-be 21-year old is signed through 2015 to a 3-year entry level deal, so has plenty of time to show the big club what he’s got.
