2nd year wing Matt Calvert(11) has been up in the NHL with Columbus Blue Jackets for the entire month of November.

Last night against the Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins he took warm-ups with the team but was a healthy scratch, watching his team lose a close contest in the shootout. In 12 games with the team this season, he’s put up 0 goals and 3 assists.

Soon to be 22 years old, it’s prime time for him to start stepping up his game big time. He did post his first NHL hat trick last year as a rookie.

11/21: Calvert gets reassigned to Springfield Falcons.

For the first time since the 2000/2001 season, 14-year veteran Chris Clark(17) finds himself playing in the AHL with Providence Bruins on a pto.

He was an NHL training camp tryout invite from Boston Bruins but was ultimately cut just before the start of the season.

Originally selected by Calgary Flames in the 3rd round of the 2007 draft (#77 overall), he’s played 6o7 career NHL games scoring 103 goals and 111 assists.

At 35 years old, it’s doubtful that he’ll find his way back to the show but he could become the new Mike Keane of the AHL, which isn’t such a terrible thing.

11/21: Clark is released from his pto.

After a slow start in his 2nd season with Columbus Blue Jackets, 2008 5th round pick (#127 overall), winger Matt Calvert(9) was reassigned to their AHL affiliate Springfield Falcons. He appeared in 4 games but failed to register a point. Still, he was recently called back up when a couple others players were sent down.

Last season he split time with the two teams almost equally playing 38 games in the AHL (13 goals, 12 assists) and 42 in the NHL (11 goals, 9 assists).

He’s not the most imposing force out there at 5’9″ 164 lbs. and will definitely need to bulk up a bit more to hit his stride. One thing is for sure though, this kid’s got skills.

John Moore (7)

John-Moore

2nd year 2009 Columbus Blue Jackets 1st round draft pick (#21 overall) defenseman John Moore(7) receives his first NHL call-up of the young season.

He played in just 2 games with the team last year registering no points.

In 5 games with Springfield Falcons this season he’s already notched a goal and an assist.

Through his rookie year, he played 73 games (5 goals, 19 assists) but was a horrible -27 plus/minus.

To say he’s still growing into his game pretty much tells the whole story.

At 6’3″ 202 lbs. it’s just a matter of time before he becomes a full-time blue liner in the show.

18-year veteran goaltender started the 2011/2012 season on a training camp tryout invite from Vancouver Canucks. They released him in mid-September and from there he signed a pto with San Antonio Rampage, which lasted through one game of the AHL season.

His playing career has come full circle as he signed another pto. This time with the team he started his pro career with, Springfield Falcons. On Friday night, he appeared in his first game with the team since 1997.

Just how long this renewed relationship will last is tough to say but I would expect it to be a short return visit. In the 3-0 loss vs. WBS Penguins he looked to be in the zone and shaky sometimes on the same play.

At 38 years old and having backstopped 365 NHL games, won a Stanley Cup with Detroit Red Wings in 2002 and played in 6 different leagues (4 North American, 2 oversesas) it may be time for him to hang up the goalie skates.

Chicago Blackhawks‘ 2004 2nd round draft pick (#45 overall) center Ryan Garlock(22) signed a pto to start the season out of camp with Springfield Falcons and 5 games into the season and 5 assists later, he’s up it to an spc for 2011/2012.

He might be starting the argument that there was a good reason Chicago picked him so high but he never played in their system. At age 25, he’s already a veteran of just under 200 games played. Columbus could be watching.

For the last couple of seasons he’s been with Hartford Wolf Pack / Connecticut Whale.

Columbus Blue Jackets‘ 4th round pick in the 2009 draft (#94 overall) defenseman David Savard(6) has scored himself some NHL playing time while James Wisniewski serves an 8-game suspension for the head shot he delivered in preseason play.

He had himself a good training camp in only his 2nd year pro. The proof is in last year’s stats for the fairly large (6’2″ 219 lbs.) d-man, who he put up some points (11 goals, 32 assists) in his rookie season while playing for their AHL affiliate, Springfield Falcons.

Look for him to earn a permanent spot on the Jackets’ blue line sooner than later.

Columbus Blue Jackets‘ 2007 4th round pick (#94 overall) Maksim Mayorov(16) has consistently played a few games each of his four seasons in the organization but had only managed one goal in 12 games.

He found himself on the 2011/2012 opening night roster but was a healthy scratch in the team’s first loss of the season. For their second game he had a spot in the lineup and potted a goal. The quick scoring start may help win the argument to keep him playing in the NHL.

In 214 AHL games with Syracuse Crunch and Springfield Falcons he has 53 goals and 43 assists for 96 points.

andrew-joudrey

Washington Capitals‘ 2003 8th round pick (#249 overall) center Andrew Joudrey(24) will skate for only his second pro team going into his fifth year pro.

Former captain for Hershey Bears, he signed a two-year, two-way deal with Columbus and will be a leader for their AHL affiliate, Springfield Falcons.

Late last month he played his first preseason game at New England Sports Center in Marlborough, MA vs. Providence Bruins after being reassigned from Blue Jackets‘ training camp..
