3rd year, undrafted defenseman Craig Schira(6) was not qualified an offer for a fourth season within Ottawa Senators‘ organization, so he splits the country to play in 2012/2013 with Frisk Asker of Norway’s GET-ligaen.
He signed a 3-year entry level deal as an unrestricted free agent coming out of 5 years in juniors and skated 215 regular and postseason games (15 goals, 33 assists) with Binghamton Senators of the AHL, where he won the Calder Cup with the team in 2012.
At 6′ 196 lbs. the 24-year old has good size but is a bit slow moving and lacks the killer instinct to shut down opposing forwards.
The change of scenery will likely do him well.
