Matt Pope (27)

For a few moments it looked like 4th year, undrafted forward Matt Pope(27) was making some waves and there might have been some under the breath mutterings of him being someone to look at in Vancouver Canucks‘ prospect system.

His 2nd full pro season was spent with their AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose but he was signed to a two-way NHL contract.

That came about after he signed a pto with the Moose at the end of his rookie season and joined the team for their Calder Cup run (12 games, 3 goals, 3 assists).

In that season with Manitoba he didn’t exactly live up to expectations and fell off the depth chart quickly.

From there he played a season with San Antonio Rampage but that came up short and going into his 4th pro season signed a deal a month before training camp with South Carolina Stingrays.

They just so happen to be the ECHL affiliate of Hershey Bears and on two call-ups he’s starting to gain some traction scoring 3 goals and 2 assists in 10 games.

Undrafted 5th year defenseman Sean Collins(6) has been in the Washington Capitals‘ prospects system from the get-go.

He’s appeared in 19 NHL games registering a couple of goals and an assist.

It’s not really point production that they have in mind when signing him/calling him up though, because at 6’1″ 212 lbs. he can wreak all sorts of havoc on opposing team’s forwards and is very accountable in the defensive zone.

10/26: he was called up to Washington for the first time in the 2011/2012 season. He was only recalled once last season but did not appear in a game.

Defenseman Dylan Yeo(29) signed a deal with Ontario Reign for the 2011/2012 season, his 5th pro year.

For the past two seasons he was under a two-way contract with Hershey Bears. Last year’s 27 games with the team on call-up from South Carolina Stingrays were career highs for games played and points (1 goal, 5 assists). He started his pro career with Manitoba Moose/Victoria Salmon Kings spending two years with them.

By joining the Reign, it’s likely he sees a possible opening in Manchester to fill.
