Chicago Blackhawks‘ 8th year center Tommy Wingels(57) signs a one-year contract for 2017/2018 after being picked up as unrestricted free agent.
He spent the second half of last season with Ottawa Senators scoring 2 goals and 2 assists in 36 NHL games and even appeared in 9 playoff games with no points after a trade from draft team San Jose Sharks, where he spent his first 6 and a half years.
The 6′ 200 lbs. forward had two very impressive offensive campaigns from 2013-2015, which helped set up a neat three year deal for the one-time deep draft selection.
Unfortunately his numbers have tailed off since but the 29-year old may have found the perfect fit in Illinois moving forward.
Tommy Wingels(17) Worcester Sharks
It looked like San Jose Sharks‘ 6th round pick in the 2009 draft (#177 overall), center Tommy Wingels(17) was going to be playing full-time in the NHL from his strong training camp and preseason play, but three games into the season with only 1 assist to his credit he was reassigned to their AHL affiliate Worcester Sharks to continue working on his game.
In 5 contests with Worcester he has a couple of assists but is playing some pretty good overall hockey.

With Worcester in the AHL he put up 17 goals and 16 assists in 69 games.
After a strong showing in training camp, he found himself in in the lineup on opening night and got himself his first NHL point, an assist and looks to be on his way to solidifying a permanent spot.
He plays with a lot of grit and determination every shift out there and has no problem putting himself in the middle of any situation.
