After a well-played four year career at Mercyhurst College, center Matthew Zay(24) former captain on a team that advanced to the AHA/NCAA Division I Championship game in a bit of a fairytale run, signs his first contract agreeing for a season with Binghamton Senators.
He skated 151 games, scoring 47 goals, 81 assists for 128 points with a +38 rating leading his team in each of his last three years in either goals, assists, points or some combination of the three.
Upon finishing up his college playing days, he signed his first ato with Springfield Falcons and appeared in his first three pro games scoring without getting on the score sheet.
The already 24-year old, soon-to-be rookie was picked up by Binghamton finishing out the regular season with the team and getting his first AHL goal.
He should also receive an invite to parent club Ottawa Senators training camp and very well could impress the brass.
