Bud Holloway(9) Manchester Monarchs

Getting Bud Holloway(9) hot in the playoffs is probably the best bet the Monarchs have to take the AHL “Atlantic” Division Semi-Finals series vs. Binghamton Senators.

Here he picked up the assist on the Justin Azevedo(15) goal, who is barely visible in the picture as he’s surrounded with congratulations.

I understand he got the hat trick in the OT win Sunday afternoon game 3 to give the Monarchs the 2-1 games advantage in the series. That’s what I’m talking about. He had 14 points in 16 games last post-season.

Can’t understand why the Kings have yet to call him up.

Barry Brust (33)

It’s been a few years since Barry Brust(33) was the netminder for Manchester Monarchs.

He returned to New Hampshire with Binghamton, the team he signed an AHL contract with during the off-season for games 1 and 2 of the Calder Cup Playoffs.

He was mocked by the crowd with the geer of “Barry…Barry…Barry” despite being a stand up goalie for the team from 2005-2007.

Los Angeles Kings‘ 2008 6th round (#153 overall) Justin Azevedo(15) gets his playoff game face set. Manchester Monarchs meet Binghamton Senators in the AHL Calder Cup “Atlantic” Division Semi-Finals.

Luke Adam(39) Portland Pirates

Portland Pirates‘ first year forward Luke Adam(39) was chosen AHL rookie of the year for the 2010/2011 season. This is the third rookie of the year in a row for Portland starting with Nathan Gerbe and Tyler Ennis last year.

Anton Khudobin(30) vs. Jordan Weal(19)

Monarchs‘ mini forward, in town after his junior team’s season ended, Jordan Weal(19) points out (with his stick) to P-Bruins‘ goalie Anton Khudobin(30) that he’s in no way going to mess with him when he’s got a blocker to beat him to a pulp with.

Providence Bruins 2010/2011

P-Bruins salute their fans (9550 in the house) to end their second straight season with no Calder Cup playoff berth. Average attendance for the team was a league fourth at 7324. Bad goaltending absolutely sunk their chances early. By the time they got Khudobin(30) it was too late.

Trent Whitfield(23) Providence Bruins

Providence Bruins‘ captain Trent Whitfield(23) cleaned up, netting virtually all the team awards at the final game of the 2010/2011 regular season at the Dunk .

He, along with 9 other players, has been assigned to Boston for the playoff run, where he’ll mostly practice with the team but can be called into play if necessary. He spent 16 games with them last season.

Nate Guenin(7) Syracuse Crunch/Anaheim Ducks

5th year pro Nate Guenin(7) was traded to Anaheim/Syracuse from Columbus/Springfield in a minor league deal at the start of 2011 but did not see playing time in the NHL with the Ducks after 3 games in 2010 with the Blue Jackets.

He was recently called up to practice with the team for Anaheim’s playoff run and could be called upon to play, although that seems a bit doubtful.

Eric Wellwood(22) Adirondack Phantoms/Philadelphia Flyers

Flyers‘ 6th round pick in the 2009 draft, rookie forward Eric Wellwood(22) has done decently in his first year playing in the AHL with Adirondack that he earned 3 games in the NHL, where he put up 1 assist.

He, along with 8 other Phantoms, has been called up to Philadelphia for the playoffs making up the “Black Aces” squad in practices. All players are eligible to play in games if needed.

Andrew Yogan(49) NY Rangers

New York Rangers‘ 2010 4th round draft pick (#100 overall) Andrew Yogan(49) is an NHL scoring machine in the making.

Watching him take warm-ups at the XL Center recently before one of the final regular season games for the Connecticut Whale, I could tell right away this kid bleeds hockey.

Then in his first pro game he scored a pair of goals and was named first star of the game.

He’s from Boca Raton, FL, a hotbed of hockey talent and was the first Sunshine state player ever to be drafted by an NHL team.
