Olivier Labelle(27) was another player the Sound Tigers called up from the ECHL Reading Royals.
He’s had other call-ups through his 5 year pro career with his rookie season spent fully in the AHL, but mostly he’s been a top scorer in AA.
This is the second time, his first in 4 years, the Sound Tigers have called upon his services.
A flurry of ECHL call ups for Bridgeport Sound Tigers lately and Wes O’Neill(8) from Kalamazoo Wings was one of them over the 11/19 weekend. He logged much ice time vs. Providence Bruins Friday night at the Dunk. Over the last couple of seasons, he’s logged some minutes for Colorado, while playing mostly in the AHL for their affiliate, Lake Erie Monsters. There’s a surprising number of guys with NHL experience playing in the E this year.
Veteran forward, David Ling(21) rejoined the AHL ranks signing an SPC with Providence after starting the year in Russian. He appeared in his first game with the team on 11/12 vs. Abbotsford Heat. P-Bruins were downed 5-2 in the game.
Former Providence Friars‘ forward, Jon Rheault earned his third AHL call up of the season with the Abbotsford Heat after the Manchester Monarchs (35 games 3 goals, 3 assists) released him from his pto back to the Ontario Reign of the ECHL
He promptly potted 3 goals to go with 2 assists in 6 regular season games and 6 goals and 2 assists in 13 playoff games resulting in an AHL contract with the team in the off-season. He has the potential to play in the NHL.
Sharks‘ forward Dan DaSilva(23) finally gets the monkey off his back with his first goal of the AHL 2010-2011 season vs. Norfolk Admirals after going the first 14 contests without lighting the lamp.
Admirals‘ starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins(30) was picked up in a Montreal Canadiens–Tampa Bay Lightning minor league netminders’ trade in the off-season.
Desjardins had four good years in the Hamilton Bulldogs/Canadiens‘ system, including two years with the Cincinnati Cyclones, where he won a Kelly Cup in 2008.
Admirals‘ forward Blair Jones(9) has been amassing the frequent flyer miles on his many trips from the AHL to the NHL (Tampa Bay Lightning) and back again since he first played in their system in 2006.
Former San Jose Sharks‘ first round pick (#16 overall) in the 2006 draft, Ty Wishart(6) makes his second visit of the season back to the DCU with his team from the last three season, the Norfolk Admirals.
He played only five games for Worcester at the end of 2007-2008 before being dished to the Tampa Bay Lightning for All-Star defenseman Dan Boyle.
