Jonathan Cheechoo(14) debuted with the Worcester Sharks for the team’s home opener, 10/23 at the DCU Center after signing an AHL contract with the team at the start of the season. I’m sure he’d like to prove himself worthy of another NHL contract with San Jose, a team he scored 50 goals with in 2006-2007.
After spending half of last season with New Jersey, Vladimir Zharkov(18) was assigned to the team’s AHL affiliation in Albany to start 2010/2011, where he’s a point per game player in three games.
Goaltender Jeff Frazee(31) came in after starter Mike McKenna(1) let up three quick goals and shut the door on the Adirondack Phantoms, so his team could climb back in the game to get the 4-3 OT win at the Glens Falls Civic Center 10/16-10.
Good to see AHL veteran Ben Guite back in the area skating with Springfield after a few seasons in the Colorado Avalanche and Nashville Predators’ systems. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get a few call ups this season to Columbus Blue Jackets.

Ryan Constant(9) was in Worcester Sharks training camp and wore the “A” for their preseason game vs. Providence Bruins on September 29 at New England Sports Center. He was assigned to Stockton Thunder in early October. Little factoid: this was his second season playing an AHL preseason game in the rink, as last year he was signed in Springfield Falcons‘ system.

former Providence Bruins forward Matt Marquardt(16) was shipped out of town to Springfield Falcons, AHL affiliate (for now) of Edmonton Oilers in a minor league swap that brought local product defenseman Cody Wild to Rhode Island.
Turns out Marquardt gets the last laugh, because he was assigned to Stockton Thunder, ECHL affiliate of the Falcons/Oilers and is still playing hockey this season in the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
