Thomas-Chabot5

Ottawa Senators‘ 3rd year defenseman Thomas Chabot(72) re-ups for another 8 years at $8M AAV to stay after posting all new career highs 14 goals, 41 assists, 55 points in 70 NHL games.

The fairly sizable former 1st round pick could clean up his twice -12 rating, but also could also be playing on a team that has more gf than ga.

Regardless of the rebuild, the 22-year old is fully part of the plan going forward.

Bruce-Cassidy

Boston Bruins‘ 4th year coach Bruce Cassidy gets a nice multi-year extension and pay bump to stick with the club after leading them on a bit of an unexpected late season playoff run to the Stanley Cup Finals.

He previously had a year and a half stint with Washington Capitals from 2002-2004 and was an assistant coach for Chicago Blackhawks from 2005-2006.

His success as a coach in the minors has led him to higher opportunities and he been through an impressive run of Jacksonville Lizard Kings, Trenton Titans and his job with Providence Bruins starting in 2008 has led him to where he is now.

The deal he signed is said to be in the $3M range and he works hard to improve his team and earn each dollar of that.

A former 1st round pick (Blackhawks again) in the 1983 draft he only managed 36 NHL games but scored a not too shabby 4 goals and 13 assists.

He spent 3 years in Italy’s top league but the majority of his playing time was in the old IHL and played his final three campaigns for Indianapolis Ice before retiring.

At 54-years old, he may be just getting started.

Danny-Fick

Undrafted 6th year defenseman Danny Fick(5) leaves North American pro hockey for a 2nd time signing a one-year deal with Nottingham Panthers  of the EIHL for 2019/2020.

He initially left as a rookie skater playing 24 games for Manglerud of GET-ligaen before arriving in West Virginia in 2015/2016, where he’s stayed and was team captain last season scoring a new best 6 goals and 25 assists for 31 points.

The 5’11” 181 lbs. was never much of a point getter through four years at Harvard University but has been loaned up twice to the AHL, where he played a stay-at-home style.

At 28-years old, it’s likely time for him to explore some for future hockey homes and it would be little surprise to see him keep scoring.

Josh-Kestner

Undrafted 2nd year right wing Josh Kestner(26) signs a 1-year AHL deal with Grand Rapids Griffins after helping 1st year team Newfoundland Growlers to the 2019 ECHL Championship.

The 6’1″ 189 lbs. forward was actually signed by Toronto Marlies last season but played only one game despite skating three games scoring 1 goal after completing 4 years at University Of Alabama-Huntsville.

In his senior year at college he scored a mammoth 24 goals.

The 25-year old will have to compete hard for a roster spot but he definitely has what it takes to make it.

Josiah-Didier

5th year defenseman Josiah Didier(56) signs a one-year AHL deal on the opening day of unrestricted free agency with Providence Bruins after helping his team of the past couple years, Charlotte Checkers win the 2019 Calder Cup Championship.

The fairly large 6’3″ 218 lbs. blue liner plays a mostly stay at home style but did pop in a career high 8 assists and 10 points with a +10 last season, then added another 4 helpers in 19 playoff games.

Originally a Montreal Canadiens‘ 4th round pick in the 2011 draft (#97 overall), he was never signed but agreed twice to terms on a minor league contract with affiliate St. John’s IceCaps.

The 26-year old twice assist captain at University Of Denver may not help his new club to another title but he will make it difficult for opposing players to occupy space around the net.

Par-Lindholm

Boston Bruins‘ 7th year Swedish-born center Par Lindholm(26) signed a 2-year one-way deal on opening day of unrestricted free agency.

The 6′ 183 lbs. forward was originally signed by Toronto Maple Leafs on a one-year entry level deal coming in with 4 years SHL and one year Allsvenskan experience.

Matters didn’t seem to gel so well up in Ontario as he netted only one goal and 11 assists in 61 NHL games with a +5 rating, so he was shipped over to Winnipeg Jets for a bag of rocks and life carried on.

He came over to North American pro hockey having already three times reached the 10+ goal mark and twice the 10+ assist plateau and in his last season, he hit 29 helpers in Sweden’s top league.

At 27-years old he’s a bit older but chances are the Black & Gold think he will quickly become a top 12 player up front for them.

Tim-Daly

5th year defenseman Tim Daly(76) has a career year for Rungsted Seier Capital scoring a new best 12 goals, 34 assists, 46 points with a +22 rating, then adding another 11 points in 14 playoffs games en route to the 2019 Metal Ligaen Championship.

These marks got the attention of HC Bolzano Foxes of Erstebank Eishockey Liga, who have signed him to a one-year deal for 2019/2020.

The 27-year old should do well in Austria top league and may even win a back-to-back title.

Ryan-Button55

9th year defenseman Ryan Button(55) switches DEL clubs for a third time signing a one-year deal with Grizzlys Wolfsburg for 2019/2020 after spending the last two seasons with EHC Munchen, where he won the 2018 DEL Championship.

He had his best offensive output in the league as a 2nd year player for Iserlohn Roosters scoring a tied for career high 6 goals and new bests 23 assists and 29 points.

After a trade sent him from draft team Boston Bruins before the final year of his entry level deal, he skated one campaign in Dallas Stars‘ system for affiliates Texas Stars and Idaho Steelheads before heading overseas.

The 28-year old looks to be doing just fine in Germany’s top hockey and could very well stay.

Dmitrij-Jaskin5

9th year right wing Dmitrij Jaskin(23) is not tendered a qualifying offer from Washington Capitals after appearing in a complete season low 37 games getting only 2 goals and 6 assists.

He was picked up on waivers at the beginning of last campaign.

Following 5 years in draft club St. Louis Blues‘ system (the only team he ever had a contract with), he asked to be traded following the 2017/2018 campaign that saw him play a career high 76 NHL games and get new best 11 assists but has not scored like he did as a rookie, when he netted 14 goals.

He leaves to head back to Russia signing a one-year deal with UHC Dynamo Moskva after skating 303 games (27-42-69 with a +12 rating) in the big league.

The 26-year old should do very well in the KHL.
