seeing 15-year NHL veteran Brendan Witt(32) in a Bridgeport Sound Tigers’ uniform was a bit mind-boggling although no different than seeing Kyle McLaren play for Worcester last season, a $3M salary playing in the AHL.

Hershey Bears’ goaltender Michal Neuvirth(30) won the MVP trophy in last year’s Calder Cup winning finish for his team.  the Bears visited the DCU Center in mid-March for game against Worcester Sharks and he was chased from the net in the 6-2 drubbing.

Jonathan Cheechoo(41) led the NHL in the 2005-2006 in scoring with 56 tallies, but life after that season trailed off rather quickly.  he was exchanged in the deal that brought Dany Heatley to San Jose and played most of the season with Ottawa.  but he really wasn’t scoring, so he was released, put on waivers and assigned to the Binghamton Senators, where i spotted him playing vs. Lowell Devils.

veteran defenseman, Mathieu Dandenault(25) signed an AHL contract with the Hartford Wolf Pack undoubtedly hoping to get signed on a call up to an NHL deal with NY Rangers, but it just never panned out.  He played 19 games for the ‘Pack and was let go from his contract soon after this game vs. Lowell Devils at the Tsongas.

signed this season by the New York Rangers, long-standing NHL vet and menacing, tough guy Donald Brashear(87) found himself as the odd man out of the lineup in Manhattan and was assigned to their AHL affiliate, Hartford Wolf Pack. neither the Rangers or the Pack made this year’s postseason.

Marblehead, MA native and former BC Eagles’ goalie standout Corey Schneider(35) was in Worcester with his AHL team, Manitoba Moose for a couple of close to “childhood-home” games.
