Undrafted, Russian-born center Artem Shlaine(38) takes a pair of good seasons at University Of Connecticut Huskies to a new adventure through the transfer portal for his junior season with Northern Michigan University Wildcats.

The 6’1″ 174 lbs. forward scored a college career high 7 goals and 10 assists for 17 points in 36 NCAA Division 1 games, sending his team all the way to the Hockey East Finals before being eliminated in overtime.

Despite being from fairly far away, the New Jersey Devils’ 5th round pick in the 2020 draft (#130 overall) has already spent a good amount of time here through youth hockey and a couple of extraordinary years at Shattuck St. Marys USHS-Prep.

The 20-year old will likely do well in his new hockey home.

After putting up 10+ goals and assists (21 as a junior) in each of his 2 seasons in the midwest, he leaves for a graduate program start at Arizona State University Sun Devils.

He finishes with a new college high 17 goals, ties his 21 assist high and 38 points, but doesn’t sign with draft team, then does ink with Texas Stars.

In 6 AHL games, he records an assist and is a +1 rating.

For his rookie season, he signs a 1-year contract to return.

Assumption University Greyhounds‘ senior center Ronny Paragallo(19) takes a 2nd season of 20+ assists to a 1st contract in France2 with Courchevel-Méribel-Pralognan Bouquetins for 2025/2026. 

The 5’10” 176 lbs. forward scored a college best 23 goals and 25 assists in 32 games as a junior with a +19 rating.

From Huntington, NY, the 23-year old went straight from his 2nd USHS-Prep to college.

Curry College Colonels‘ graduate transfer Daniel Eruzione(21) signs a 1st pro deal with Brixen/Bressanone Falcons of Italy2 for his rookie season 2022/2023.

The small-ish 5’9″ 165 lbs. forward is coming off a college career low goal and 9 assists in 22 NCAA Division3 games, but 3 times was a 20+ point scorer for his 1st school, Salve Regina University Seahawks.

He started his junior hockey with tier 3 Walpole Express after graduating Cushing Academy and lit up with 41 points in 40 EHL games, then was selected in the NAHL draft and played the next frame for New Jersey Junior Titans.

The 26-year old, Winthrop, MA native should light up where he is headed and may even get a promotion to a higher level club.

He has a very successful first run in Italy’s tier 2 league (12 goals, 19 assists in 20 games) and will return, but signs with rivals Feltre for 2023/2024.

25 assists ties a mark twice set in college play and 17 goals goes back to his 2nd junior season for that total, so he is scoring and will take that to a 3rd Italy2 team for 2024/2025, HC Eppan Pirates, maybe in hopes of winning a championship.

He blows up scoring with 20 goals and 35 assists in 32 games, then adds another 4 in 4 playoff matchups and will return for 2025/2026 in a Pirates‘ jersey.

Boston Bruins‘ 2nd round pick in the 2020 draft (#58 overall), defenseman Mason Lohrei(6) left a couple of years on the table in his college life at University Of Ohio Buckeyes, but looking at him on day 1 of 2023 Development Camp he will compete for a position with the big club more than just reporting to affiliate Providence Bruins to start things, like he did on an ato last season.

In his 3rd game up after putting up 4 assists in 7 games in the AHL, he gets himself a 1st NHL goal to go along with the helper he tallied in his debut.

After a full slate of 77 games with the big team, he scores bests 5 goals and by a mile 28 assists to earn himself a 2-year deal to stay a Bruins at $3.2M AAV as a restricted free agent.

Mason Lohrei (6)

Toronto Marlies signed former University Of Notre Dame Fighting Irish senior captain Graham Slaggert(19) to an ato, as he finished up NCAA Division 1 tournament play.

In a pair of AHL games, he was unable to score any points, but came away a +3 player on a non-playoff team.

A former 2-time USNTDP forward, he was given a deal for 2022/2023 before the initial signing.

The 5’11” 183 lbs. center scored a college high 12 goals and tying 25 points in 39 games this past season.

At 23-years old, the South Bend, IN native may just be ready to go.

He would sign for the following frame as a rookie and record 6 goals and 4 assists in 63 games.

Not signed to return, his option is picked up by Rochester Americans, where he plays less games, but similar stats, slightly better assists.

For 2024/2025, he will return to the New York state team and look to increase his game.

After a best 12 goals and 12 assists in 69 games with a +17 rating, he is quickly asked to return for another seasons as an Americans.

Colorado Avalanche swooped in on the opening day of unrestricted free agency to grab 4th year defenseman Jack Ahcan(43), who was set to become a group 6 ufa after being under contract for 3 seasons with initial signing club, Boston Bruins after he completed 4 years at St. Cloud State University Falcons.

The small 5’8″ but wide 180 lbs. blue liner will likely head to affiliate Colorado Eagles, as last season he dished out a minor league career best 31 assists and 36 points with Providence Bruins.

We do think the 26-year old from Savage, MN gets some looks from the big club for a recall, as he does have 1 NHL goal in 9 games.

He does score the recall for 2 games with no points and a 0 rating before heading back to the minors, where he was a top scorer with 5 goals and 36 assists in 69 games with a +6 rating to earn another 1-year deal to stay an Avalanche.

Canisius College Golden Griffins‘ freshman defenseman Dominic Payne(27) enters the transfer portal and will skate Hockey East in 2025/2026, as he is set to join UMASS-Lowell Riverhawks.

The 6’2″ 190 lbs. blue liner scored 6 goals and 8 assists in 37 games with a +2 rating last season.

From North Vancouver, BC, the 20-year old play 2 years of junior hockey in Canada before coming south for school.

10th year defenseman Mathew Bodie(22) re-signs to stay on for a 4th season with ERC Ingolstadt after scoring 4 goals and 21 assists in 40 DEL games with a +30 rating.

He had 1 year stints in both the KHL and SHL after coming over from an AHL year for Syracuse Crunch, while under a Tampa Bay Lightning deal scoring a new best 31 assists, which matched his Union College Dutchmen high as a senior.

Undrafted, the 6′ 175 lbs. blue liner was originally signed to 1-year contracts by New York Rangers for 3 campaigns to start his pro career.

From East St. Paul, MB, the 33-year old has to be happy to still be playing his game.

After a 5th season, serving as assistant captain and still producing points, he decides after 208 DEL games, 287 AHL and 154 NCAA, he decides to retire, but we don’t think he will be too far from hockey.

Boston Bruins have just traded a 7th round pick to obtain the NHL rights for Providence College Friars‘ senior defenseman, 3-time captain Michael Callahan(79).

The Franklin, MA native is essentially coming home if he signs his entry level contract.

He was an Arizona Coyotes‘ 5th round pick in 2018, #142 overall after finishing up his only USHL junior season split between a couple of teams with solid playoff run with Youngstown Phantoms.

The 6’2″ 196 lbs., 22-year old blue liner is a solid prospect, grinding his game the right way in Hockey East before turning pro.

Fresh out of his 4th year at school, he picks up a 2-year entry level deal and will likely report to affiliate Providence Bruins to start, which is basically right next to where he played his college game.

After a decent rookie frame, he finds himself back at Bruins‘ rookie camp and is looking like he will compete for whatever open spot on defense may exist for him to fill is how good he was out there.

He records new league highs for himself with 4 goals and 13 assists and is offered a 1-year deal to continue in a Bruins‘ jersey.

In 35 games with the affiliate, he scores 1 goal and 5 assists with a +1 rating to earn himself a 1st look in the big league.

For his NHL debut, he skates a full slate of 22 shifts for 14:11 of ice time with 1 shot and 2 giveaways and a +1 rating in a big 6-2 win.

He picks up a 1st NHL goal in his 16th game, where he also logs a most amount of 18:11 ice time.

In 17 games, he is looking like he belongs out there, but reassigned in 45 games, he scores 1 goal and 8 assists with a +3 rating to earn a 4th season with the hometown Boston team.

Carolina Hurricanes‘ 3rd round pick in the 2019 draft (#90 overall), Boston University Terriers 4-year senior captain defenseman Domenick Fensore(2) signs a 2-year NHL entry level deal as his team is bumped from Final Four play.

It’s likely the 5’9″ 170 lbs. blue liner will report to affiliate Charlotte Checkers for some Calder Cup playoff action, but could also get signaled up, one never knows.

He skated 2 seasons USNTDP, pushing his numbers up slightly as he went.

The 21-year old from Bronxville, NY left with a college career high 9 goals and tied his 31 point mark from his junior year.

He’s ready.

Through 66 AHL games, he scores 9 goals and 23 assists with a +6 rating to earn a 1st, late season recall.

In his debut, he skated 19 shifts for 17:13 of ice time with 5 shots, 1 block, 2 hits, 1 giveaway and a 0 rating  in a 4-2 loss

After 2 games in the big league and 9 goals and 23 assists in 67 games in the minors with a +7 rating, the restricted free agent is invited to return a ‘Canes for 2025/2026 on a 1-year deal.
