Boston University Terriers‘ graduate captain, defenseman Case McCarthy(8) maybe wasn’t quite ready to step into the pro pool and extended a year on his college program, where he may not exceed earlier college career bests (5 goals, 12 assists), but will definitely be steady in his zone with a +15 rating.

The 6’1″ 198 lbs. blue liner is a New Jersey Devils‘ 4th round pick in the 2019 draft (#119 overall), selected after his 2nd solid 24 assist run through the USNTDP program.

He may never exceed these points, but that’s hardly what we think the still quite young 22-year old from Troy, NY will be relied upon once he gets up there.

Maybe a little oddly, he doesn’t sign with the team that selected him and instead inks to join Hartford Wolf Pack in their AHL playoff run first, then through 2025/2026.

Southern New Hampshire University Penmen sophomore left wing Kurt Watson(13) decided to switch schools after 21 games (4 goals, 2 assists) at Rivier University Raiders.

Not sure what made him want to change NH colleges, but it’s seemingly working as he looks to greatly eclipse goal scoring with already 3 goals and 2 assists in 7 D3 games.

The 5’11” 185 lbs. forward from London, ON native played 2 seasons of juniors on top level OJHL teams.

We think the 22-year old looks pretty happy with his new college club.

University Of Massachusetts’ Minutemen senior goaltender Cole Brady(34) stepped in to put the fire out, stopping 7-7 shots faced for his team to mount a comeback with him in net for a 6-5 win.

The 6’5″ listed at 181 lbs. tower has appeared in 5 games this season with a 3-1 record.

He transferred from 2 years at Arizona State University Sun Devils.

The Pickering, ON native bounced around 3 junior leagues with mostly good success before committing.

A New Jersey Devils‘ 5th round pick in 2019 (#127 overall), at 22-years old he seems to be a simple sign for a 2-year NHL entry level deal.

4th year defenseman Dominic Cormier(58) switches up 15 games in EliteHockey Ligaen with Stjernan Hockey to signing with Sheffield Steelers.

The 5’11” 187 lbs. from Moncton, NB has done 2 strong ECHL sessions with Reading Royals before eventually leaving.

He played 4 years in the QMJHL before heading to University Of Ottawa Gee Gees for only 1 season before turning pro.

The still young 25-year old already has 2 assists in his 1st 2 EIHL games.

10th year center Travis Oleksuk(13) didn’t last long in the EIHL with Sheffield Steelers (5 games, 2 assists) and has decided to return to IceHL, where he has basically spent the last 5 seasons since coming over from a 1-year AHL deal with Hartford Wolf Pack, signing with rivals Villacher SV.

He spent 2 years with HC Bolzano Foxes and 3 to Graz99ers and won the 2018 EBEL Championship with his initial club.

The 6′ 200 lbs. forward signed an entry level deal with San Jose Sharks to start his pro career after 4 years at University Of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs, including a breakout campaign as a senior assistant captain with 21 goals and 32 assists with a +24 rating.

It would not be outlandish to just see the 32-year old retire and then coach in the Austria pro league.

Well, apparently he’s not done yet, after putting up 8 goals and 11 assists in 30 games, he decides to head to Germany3 and signs with Starbulls Rosenheim for 2022/2023.

After scoring quite well, almost to the tune of point-per-game numbers, he waits and finally signs with rivals, Hannover Scorpions and will likely continue to do well.

Babson College Beavers‘ senior Thomas Kramer(14) has a team leading 5 goals and 2 assists through 9 D3 games.

The 6′ 191 lbs. forward played only 1 junior hockey year in the AJHL, scoring a point-per-game for Bonnyville Pontiacs

He’s had 10+ goals and assists as a sophomore and junior, so is on a good trajectory.

It would surprise us little to see the 23-year old from Bridgewater, MA turn pro, when college hockey is all said and done.

Worcester Railers‘ 2nd year left wing Nick Fea(22) re-signs to return for a full 2023/2024 season after being loaned up from Birmingham Bulls following point-per-game SPHL numbers, then getting 8 goals and 8 assists in 29 ECHL games on loan.

The 5’11” 190 lbs. forward was a scoring machine at Wilkes University Colonels, striking for 121 points in 86 D3 games, 3 times 20+ goals.

From Oak Ridge, NJ, the 26-year old has consistently put up good statistics.

He was to return, where he played last season, but that’s how quickly things change in this league sometimes, as he is officially on the roster of Wichita Thunder going forward.
