Knoxville Ice Bears‘ rookie goaltender Tyriq Outen(1) got loaned up to and signs with Wichita Thunder, is 2-1-1 in 4 ECHL games, but looks to better 3.85 GAA and .875 SV%.

The big 6’4″ 192 lbs. net minder was 1-3 in 5 SPHL games before being sent to the higher league.

From Tampa, FL, he jumped around schools, originally going to Acadia University Axemen, but played no games, then transferred to Stevenson University Mustangs, going 19-6 with a 1.82 GAA, .943 SV% and 4 shutouts.

He took this performance to signing with Long Island University Sharks and he continued, recording a 7-5-1 record with 1.93 GAA and .920 SV%.

We think the 25-year old, one-time South Shore Kings, Maine Nordiques is just getting his footing started.

Merrimack College Crusaders‘ senior left wing Mick Messner(87) is having a breakout campaign in his 2nd year with the team since being a portal transfer from 2 seasons at University Of Wisconsin Badgers.

In just 7 NCAA Division 1 games, he has a goal and 4 assists with a +4 rating.

The 5’11” 194 lbs. forward had mostly always connected for points through close to home high school in Madison, WI and 2 and a half USHL seasons for the Capitals.

At still just 22-years old looks poised to post Hockey East college career highs in 2021/2022, making him a nice unrestricted rookie pick up, if he decides to turn pro.

He spends a graduate season at the school and posts 5 goals and 4 assists in 35 games with a +6 rating on the way to a Hockey East Finals bout.

It takes him little time to agree to a pro deal, signing with Utah Grizzlies, where he has no points through 6 games with a +1 rating.

His efforts earn him an ECHL contract for 2023/2024 to wear that Grizzlies‘ jersey as a rookie.

He had a nice full frame, scoring 15 goals and 23 assists in a full slate of 72 games, gets him wanted back to continue wearing that Utah shirt.

As an assistant, he scores a new pro best 16 goals and 24 assists in another complete 72 game schedule and will return for his 3rd season as Grizzlies‘ team captain.

After 3 games, he has a change of attitude, sees an opportunity overseas to sign with HC Banska Bystrica for 2025/2026 in Slovak Extraliga and has an assist in his debut.

With 4 goals and 4 assists in 28 games, we don’t think it’s such a bad showing, but maybe he’s not as happy as he wants to be and shifts his game to sign with Glasgow Clan of the EIHL for the remainder of 2025/2026.

Rookie goaltender Luke Pavicich(30) has had a hard time settling with a team, but has played 8 games with 4th club, Cincinnati Cyclones, so could be settling.

The 6’3″ 194 lbs. net minder was a senior at Arizona State University Sun Devils and did good with a 13-9 record.

He was also at UMASS Minutemen 2 seasons doing pretty well before heading to UMASS-Lowell Riverhawks for his junior year.

From Clarence Center, NY, the 23-year did many years in the Buffalo Jr. Sabres youth hockey system.

Express Hockey Club 2nd year center Keith Smilowitz(34) takes an EHL best 7 goals and 18 assists to a 2024/2025 commit at Post University Eagles.

The 6′ 194 lbs. forward has definitely been able to score as he has come up.

From Sarver, PA, the 20-year old will definitely help this Northeast-10 club score more.

He gets very little playing time, only 3 games, which easily has him wanting more, so he enters the transfer portal to head to the new D3 program at Hiram College Terriers for 2025/2026.

In 18 games, he has 4 goals and 2 assists on a very young team.

Quinnipiac University Bobcats‘ graduate defenseman Griffin Mendel(77) had his best college scoring season with his new school, almost equaling 4 years of totals he had at his initial one, University Of Denver Pioneers.

He takes his game to the pro level upon finishing up a 5th year of school and signs with Chicago Wolves for the rest of the AHL 2021/2022.

The towering 6’6″ 220 lbs. blue liner played a couple years of junior hockey, sort of close to home in Kelowna, BC for Penticton Vees and skated an equal 52 games, en route to a 2017 BCHL Championship in his 2nd session.

We think it’s his NCAA Division 1 +53 rating that gets the 23-year old the most notice.

In 10 games, he gets 2 assists with a +5 rating and then gets into 1 playoff contest, but leaves a +2.

The Kelowna, BC native is staying put for what will be his rookie season, 2022/2023

With 9 goals and 10 assists in his 1st frame, the big d-man earns himself a handsome 1-year NHL entry level deal from parent club Carolina Hurricanes.

He wasn’t really scoring, until he was reassigned down to Norfolk Admirals, where he finally struck for 3 goals and 3 assists in 8 games with a +3 rating

For 2024/2025, he takes his game to Czech Extraliga and signs with Rytiri Kladno.

In 52 games, he gets 1 goal and 5 assists with a -1 rating to get himself a new deal for 2025/2026.

He continues to do well and is offered a 1-year extension to continue with Kladno.

Arizona State University Sun Devils‘ graduate left wing Lukas Sillinger(39) has steadily put up better numbers with 37 assists and 48 points last season and already has 3 assists in 6 games this year.

He initially did 2 sessions at Bemidji State University Beavers, where he was a point-per-game player as a sophomore.

The 5’11” 170 lbs. forward was born in Regina, SK and did 3 BCHL campaigns before college.

He’s the 24-year old son of Mike Sillinger, veteran of 1049 NHL games.

After a season of 8 goals and 30 assists in 35 games with a +8 rating, he waits a bit, but signs a pto to join Iowa Wild for his rookie season, 2025/2026.

In 5 AHL games with no points, he is released and quickly scooped up by Florida Everblades to skate the 2nd half of 2025/2026.

After 7 ECHL games with 1 assist and a -3 rating, he is traded to Greensboro Gargoyles, where his fortunes could get better.

Clarkson University Golden Knights‘ freshman goaltender Emmett Croteau(70) has only received 5 starts in 2023/2024, good for a 2-3 record with maybe below what he calls for 3.38 GAA and .851 SV%, but that should improve lots as he spends more time in the net.

6’4″ 209 lbs. big, the 3 USHL season Waterloo Blackhawks‘ back stop was pretty good through 79 games with 2.91 GAA and .904 SV%.

The Bonnyville, AB native is a Montreal Canadiens‘ 6th round pick in the 2022 draft (#162 overall).

He enters the transfer portal for his sophomore year to go tend net at Dartmouth College Big Green and through 18 games, the results are vastly improving.

In his junior frame, he has 10-3 record with a 1.71 GAA and .929 SV% on a team that has entered top 10 best teams.

Canisius College Golden Griffins‘ graduate defenseman Cody Schiavon(44) agreed on a 1st deal for his pro career with Orlando Solar Bears, but was released after only 1 appearance and quickly snapped up and signed by Indy Fuel.

The 6′ 201 lbs. blue liner has no points in 5 games.

His best college scoring season came as a junior for 3 goals and 5 assists in 28 games after coming over from 2 years at University Of Vermont Catamounts.

From Kelowna, BC, he did 3 years of BCHL before college.

The 25-year had 25 assists in his last season of juniors.

Australian-born, huge 6’5″ 229 lbs. rookie defenseman Dash Quartarolo(2) signs with Fayettesville Marksmen and through 9 games has 1 assist with a 0 rating, hopefully solidifying his roster spot.

He spent 5 years at 3 different colleges, but was an infrequent add into games with Becker College Hawks initially, then 1 year of no use at New England College Pilgrims and finally 2 frames at Salem State University Vikings, scoring a 1st college hockey goal in 9 games.

Coming over early for high school, he would follow a path through juniors that worked up to USPHL Premier with South Shore Kings for a best effort of 1 goal and 7 assists.

He also play twice during summers in the AIHL and even signed with the tier 3 Finish league Suomi-sarja for a successful session.
