13th year center Aaron Gagnon(11) signs for a 3rd season with SCL Tigers after putting up a solid 14 goals and 14 assists in 39 games.
He originally came to the top Swiss Hockey league after leaving Lukko of Liiga, where he spent four campaigns but at the end of 2016/2017 to joined the SC Bern playoff run, which turned into the 2017 NLA Championship.
Upon leaving a long career of North American pro hockey: 328 AHL games and 38 in the NHL, he initially signed with HV71 but left after only 7 SHL games scoring a goal and 2 assists.
At 33 and sidelined for up to 8 weeks after taking a shot off the foot that required surgery, he probably won’t be moving around much more and hopefully found himself a good league to continue playing.
Upon his return, in 12 games, he has a nifty goal and 4 assists with a +4 rating.
Aaron Gagnon (25)
Originally a Phoenix Coyotes‘ 8th round pick in the 2004 draft (#240 overall), center Aaron Gagnon(25) got his first crack at the big league a couple of seasons ago, while under contract with Dallas Stars.
In 21 games over two seasons, he registered 0 goals and a pair of assists.
He mostly skated with their AHL affiliate Texas Stars and has played over 250 career games, picking up 57 goals and 78 assists with 4 different teams.
Winnipeg Jets signed him to a one-year, two-way contract just after free agency began.
In 33 games this season with St. John’s IceCaps he has 8 goals and 12 assists but as a 5th year pro plays with a sense of purpose and accountability out there.
He was recently call-up for his first taste of NHL this year but was quickly returned as the team went into a low period off for the All-Star break.
In the game, which all his IceCaps‘ teammates attended he skated 12 shifts for 8:38 of ice time and went a -1 plus/minus.
