New York Rangers‘ 2nd round pick in the 2014 draft (#59 overall) goaltender Brandon Halverson(31) gets bit of an unlikely nod for his first NHL action to help put out the fire.
He was in net for 12:33 seconds saving 5 or 6 shots in a 6-3 losing effort.
The big 6’4″ 208 lbs. net minder was one of a few players to appear in three different leagues in a single season.
He has appeared in only 4 AHL games for affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack with a 1-3 mark and played 22 ECHL contests with Greenville Swamp Rabbits posting a 7-11-2 record.
Both clubs have struggled to win in 2017/2018.
The 21-year old American-born goalie played three seasons with Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds doing pretty well, especially through a huge 43 and 50 games in his final pair of campaigns.
He’s on a three-year deal through 2019, which should equal more time in the big league to prove he has what it takes.
