Bruno-Gervais4

After a 13-year career defenseman Bruno Gervais(5) calls it a career.

He spent the last pair of seasons with Eisbaren Berlin of DEL.

The former New York Islanders‘ 6th round pick in the 2003 (#182 overall) played 419 NHL games.

He last played 39 contests for Philadelphia Flyers after the lockout thaw of 2012/2013.

It was his sixth full season exclusively skating in the big league.

No word as to what the 32-year old will do after hanging up his skates but the Longueuil, Quebec-native would be a great asset to any club.

Bruno Gervais(37) Eisbaren Berlin

Bruno-Gervais5 After putting up some decent numbers (10-16-26) with the farm team while under contract for Philadelphia Flyers, on the first day of free agency he switched teams signing with Colorado Avalanche.

Although a late cut from training camp, he would skated another full campaign in the minors serving as team captain for affiliate Lake Erie Monsters, playing 71 AHL games.

He didn’t have great numbers at 3 goals and 10 assists with a -10 rating but certainly helped guide the youngsters in the system quite nicely.

For 2015/2016, he may not be able to see another big league deal so he returns to Germany on a contract with Eisbaren Berlin of the DEL.

Tough to say how much time the soon-to-be 31-year old will have left on the ice but should have a few good runs with some overseas clubs.

Bruno Gervais (37)

Bruno-Gervais2

It’s been 7 seasons since 10th year, veteran defenseman Bruno Gervais(37) has skated in a game in the minor leagues but finds himself reassigned to Adirondack Phantoms under a one-way contract with Philadelphia Flyers through the end of 2013/2014.

In 10 AHL games he has a pair of goals and three assists with a +1 rating and looks to be highly affective moving the puck and playing smart with the team.

He has 134 other games, all with Bridgeport Sound Tigers played in the A scoring 76 overall points with a +4 plus/minus.

The 6’1″ 197 lbs. blue liner has made 419 NHL appearances, 6 seasons with New York Islanders, the team that selected him in 6th round of the 2003 draft (#182 overall) but also 1-year runs with Tampa Bay Lightning and in 2012/2013 with the Flyers.

16 goals and 71 assists isn’t exactly tons of offensive upside but his -82 rating is kind of unreal, although in some circumstances the teams he was suiting up for had GAA situations.

We assume big questions remained to be answered as to where he will sign to play next year but we’re sure it will be something pretty darn good for this well-proven d-man.
