Gus-Young

2nd year defenseman Gus Young(3) becomes the first player to sign an AHL contract with new San Jose Sharks‘ affiliate San Jose Barracuda.

The one-time Colorado Avalanche 7th round pick in the 2009 draft (#184 overall) inked a similar deal for his rookie season with essentially the same team, Worcester Sharks, who up until the current calendar was the 9-year minor league club for San Jose.

In 64 games he scored 5 goals and 10 assists with a team best +14 rating.

The 6’2″ 200 lbs. blue liner showed an offensive upside in his final year with Yale Bulldogs getting 7 goals and 11 assists in 33 games.

In the previous campaign his team would win the 2013 NCAA Championship.

The 24-year old is already participating in development camp and will definitely be an invite at the upcoming parent club training camp. With some good play he could very well get himself more solidly on their radar.
