Florida Panthers‘ 11th year veteran left wing Jamie McGinn(88) plays a 1st AHL game since the end of 2010/2011, when he was a third year skater for draft club San Jose Sharks (round 2 in 2006, #36 overall).
He’s on rehab after undergoing successful back surgery as training camp was set to begin.
In his debut with affiliate Springfield Thunderbirds he scored a 1st goal of the 2018/2019 season in a one goal loss.
The 6’1″ 205 lbs. forward has played 598 NHL games scoring 113 goals and 100 assists but is mainly an effective third-line agitator.
He did post a career second highest 13 goals and 16 assists, which rivaled his 19-19 mark he got in 2013/2014 for Colorado Avalanche.
The 30-year old is on a three-year deal he signed with Arizona Coyotes before he was traded south.
It will be interesting to see if he stays or is released and would very likely pick up at least one year with another club.
