6th year head coach Jeremy Colliton finds himself as the new man in charge of once again slumping Chicago Blackhawks in a bold move that makes him the youngest coach in the NHL at 33-years old.
He was just getting his Rockford Icehogs‘ squad set for a good start in his 2nd year as head coach of the affiliate.
In his first season, he was able to get the team a winning record and back into the playoff hunt taking them all the way to the AHL Western Conference Finals for a first time.
His first foray in coaching came as he was just started overseas with a contract for Allsvenskan‘s Mora IK.
After only 3 games played he was named interim head coach and continued for the next three seasons.
Not sure if we know who the former Prince Alberts Raiders got into the coaching bug but he seems like a natural behind the bench, also considering his 57 game big league experience (3 goals, 3 assists).

Off-season rumors strongly suggested Islanders‘ 2003 2nd round draft pick (#58 overall) Jeremy Colliton(21) would go back to Europe (where he played in 2009/2010) but New York re-signed the 7th year pro for another 1 year, 2-way contract. He’s struggled to crack the NHL on a full-time basis but maybe this is his year.
Last season he was an assistant captain for Bridgeport AHL and is the team’s all-time leading scorer with 176 points in 285 games.

Jeremy Colliton(21) took a gamble to come back to the US to play for the AHL affiliate of the team that drafted him, the only organization he’s ever played with, New York Islanders.
He was on a pto but by the end of November he signed a 2-way deal with the Isles.
He’s played 15 games and has a few points, which isn’t exactly the stuff big deals are made of but he’s shown a lot of growth this season, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the young NYI team bring him back for a 6th year.

After starting the 2010/2011 season without a contract and then signing a pto with Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Jeremy Colliton(21) earned his two-way deal with New York Islanders.
He was recalled the first weekend of January and scored two goals in his second game with the team in their overtime win vs. Colorado.
It was his first for the team since April 15, 2006. The Isles are the only NHL team he has skated for in his 5 years and spent last season in Europe before returning.

After signing a pto to appear in the AHL with Bridgeport Sound Tigers, forward Jeremy Colliton(21) was rewarded for his early season play with a two-way contract by the New York Islanders, the team he was drafted by in 2003 and only organization he’s played with in North America.
He will likely see some time in the NHL with the Isles in 2011.
