14th year center John Mitchell(79) wraps up a great pro career with a pair of years in DEL, scoring a second best 13 goals and 25 assists for 38 points in his final season for EHC Red Bull Munchen.
He scored his highest totals as a third year player with draft club Toronto Maple Leafs‘ affiliate Toronto Marlies amassing 20 goals and 31 assists in 79 AHL games.
The 6’1″ 204 lbs. forward has a solid 548 NHL games played scoring 70 goals and 107 assists with his best season 2013/2014 for Colorado Avalanche scoring 11 goals and 21 assists with a +13 rating.
At 34-years old, it makes sense that the one-time St. John’s Maple Leaf did very despite being a deep draft pick.
John Mitchell (79)
After being acquired in a trade with Toronto Maple Leafs for a bag of rocks (7th round pick), center John Mitchell(79) spent the rest of the 2010/2011 season with New York Rangers‘ AHL affiliate Connecticut Whale and basically put up a point per game in 20 regular season and playoff games.
He was re-signed quickly in the offseason to a two-way, one-year deal and has been taking up with the Whale where he left off, notching a point in every game.
He received his first call-up to the Blueshirts and continued in the scoring column already putting up a couple of assists in his first two games with the team.
Originally a Maple Leafs‘ 2003 5th round pick (#158 overall), he has accumulated 161 games of NHL experience for 20 goals and 37 assists.
11/29: Mitchell gets his first goal with the Rangers.
In 4 games he has one goal and a pair of assists. Nice start (and hat).
John Mitchell (79)
Traded for late last year, John Mitchell(79) is basically a point per game player in the AHL with the Whale and the Marlies. He was re-signed by the Rangers‘ to a one-year, two-way deal.
In 150+ NHL games all with Toronto, he was a point every few games player over a few years.
He’s still only in his mid-20’s.
I think he’s got some potential to crack that fourth line with the big club this season.
