5th year defenseman Josiah Didier(56) signs a one-year AHL deal on the opening day of unrestricted free agency with Providence Bruins after helping his team of the past couple years, Charlotte Checkers win the 2019 Calder Cup Championship.
The fairly large 6’3″ 218 lbs. blue liner plays a mostly stay at home style but did pop in a career high 8 assists and 10 points with a +10 last season, then added another 4 helpers in 19 playoff games.
Originally a Montreal Canadiens‘ 4th round pick in the 2011 draft (#97 overall), he was never signed but agreed twice to terms on a minor league contract with affiliate St. John’s IceCaps.
The 26-year old twice assist captain at University Of Denver may not help his new club to another title but he will make it difficult for opposing players to occupy space around the net.
