Kellen-Jones5

6th year left wing Kellen Jones(11) takes a career best, first season overseas with Vasterviks IK of Allsvenskan scoring 14 goals and 30 points to Switzerland’s tier 2 NLB joining HC Thurgau for 2019/2020.

His twin brother Connor Jones also signed.

Originally an Edmonton Oilers‘ 7th round pick in the 2010 draft (#202 overall), he was never offered a contract but stayed in their system agreeing to terms as a rookie with affiliate Oklahoma City Barons.

He actually signed an ato with them after finishing up his four years at Quinnipiac University, where he was twice assistant captain and could be counted on for 10+ goals and 20+ assists on at least five occasions.

His 2nd contract would be with Kansas City Mavericks but he spent more time in the AHL on a pair of loans to Bakersfield Condors, of all teams, and Utica Comets, which would lead to his next deal to skate with his brother for Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

He would stick a 2nd season but also loaned to Worcester Railers on basically equal time, which likely had him looking elsewhere to arrive in Sweden’s tier two league.

The almost 29-year old will likely do well and could potentially eclipse those high marks he put up last year.
