Luke-Schenn

Vancouver Canucks‘ 11th year defenseman Luke Schenn(23) maybe a little oddly finds himself skating for affiliate Utica Comets.

He was waived by 2018/2019 contract club Anaheim Ducks after 8 games with no points and sent to San Diego Gulls, his first appearances ever in the AHL before being traded.

The very big and sturdy 6’2″ 229 lbs. blue liner has a pair of assists in 3 games with his new club and looks to be making an argument that he deserves to be back up in the show.

Originally a Toronto Maple Leafs‘ 1st round pick in the 2008 draft (#5 overall), he’s never been the biggest scorer with 22 points in his last two seasons with the team before being sent to Philadelphia Flyers, where he spent the next four years of his career.

From there he bounced to Los Angeles Kings for a short stint then 2 seasons with Arizona Coyotes.

The 29-year old veteran of 716 NHL games (30-113-143 with a -51 rating) will definitely need to work extra hard to be recalled but could easily put in the effort.

Signed only through the end of the current calendar, it’s a wonder where he’ll go next.
