Marek-Mazanec

6th year Czech-Republic-born goaltender Marek Mazanec(2) signs on for another year to stay with New York Rangers, who signed him half way through 2017/2018 as he was playing in the KHL for HC Slovan Bratislava.

He was reassigned to affiliate Hartford Wolf Pack, where he posted an admiral 11-6-1 record with a 2.97 GAA and .905 SV% on a non-playoff team in 20 AHL games.

The 6’4″ 187 lbs. net minder was originally drafted by Nashville Predators in the 6th round of 2012 (#179 overall) after coming up in the Czech junior hockey system and parts of three campaigns for HC Plzen, helping them win the 2013 Tipsport Extraliga with an outstanding 2.13 GAA and .932 SV%.

He’s played 31 NHL with the Tennessee club posting an 8-13-4 record with 2 shutouts signing three contracts but decided to terminate is last deal and head to Russia before the start of last season.

The 26-year old is a big presence guarding the cage and should receive some looks in his 2nd year.
