Undrafted 7th year, Slovakian-born defenseman Martin Nemcik(91) returns home signing a one-year deal with HC Banska Bystrica of Slovak Tipsport Liga after a career ECHL campaign for Manchester Monarchs scoring 1 goal and a career high 17 assists, 18 points.
He actually re-signed to once again join the New Hampshire club but seemingly had a change of heart.
The extraordinarily big 6’4″ 231 lbs. blue liner played most of his junior hockey in his home country but did come over for a year of the EHL tier 3 Bay State Breakers before turning pro with HC Dukla Trencin.
He took that experience to Erstebank Eishockey Liga agreeing with Orli Znojmo that went into the start of the next season but he decided to return to North America grabbing a deal with Wichita Thunder.
After a solid run and then a bit of a slow start heading into 2016/2017, he was traded for future considerations to Utah Grizzlies.
The 26-year old may have officially given up playing his game over this side of the pond for a more lucrative path overseas but could very well work out a nice existence for himself moving forward.
