Lehigh Valley Phantoms‘ undrafted 2nd year center Michael Huntebrinker(27) has been enjoying some extended time up in the AHL scoring his first pair of goals in the higher league while appearing in 21 games.
He’s almost equally split time with affiliate Reading Royals, who he was signed with as a rookie, where in 29 ECHL games he’s more than a point-per-game performer scoring 15 goals and 20 assists with a +9 rating.
The 5’11” 194 lbs. forward may not reach the marks he set as a first year player (20-21-41) but that was over the course of almost 3 times more games at 65.
He was a decent scorer in his last two years at Minnesota State University (Mankato) with 18 assists as a senior and 12 in his junior campaign.
Leading up to college he did extremely well with Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL.
It would be little surprise to see him score another 1-year two-way contract heading into 2019/2020 but he could also look elsewhere for a more permanent opening.
