Undrafted defenseman Nick Luukko(29) played only 4 years of pro hockey after graduating University Of Vermont Catamounts, mostly for exclusively with close to home (West Chester, PA) Reading Royals for 274 ECHL games.
He transitioned immediately into becoming the assistant coach for the team he played his hockey with for one season.
Forced to the sidelines because of a COVID canceled 2020/2021 for lots of teams, he was next offered the job to take over as head coach/director of operations for Jacksonville Icemen.
The 6’2″ 181 lbs. former d-man had a solid, winning 1st season and is extended 2 more years through 2025.
