Paul-Postma

There was a 9th year defenseman Paul Postma(14) sighting at Boston Bruins‘ captains’ practice, which is the first time he’s been out of a Winnipeg Jets‘ uniform in 8 seasons.

This number includes two years with Atlanta Thrashers, the team that selected him in 7th round of the 2007 draft (#205 overall).

He signed a one-year one-way deal on the opening day of unrestricted free agency to change up the scenery after posting a career high 13 assists and 14 points in 65 NHL games, his first full campaign in the big league.

The 28-year old will have to earn his spot on the black n’ gold but looks like to fit into a top 6 role.

Winnipeg Jets‘ defenseman Paul Postma(4) was extended for another season shortly into his first restricted free agency and would split time in the following season between teams.

Most importantly he was starting to contribute on the score sheet with the big club.

In 34 games he posted 4 goals and 5 assists.

Heading into 2013/2014 even though it took a week longer to get done, he was bumped up to a 2-year deal to stick with the Jets.

Unfortunately a month into the season he was sidelined for four months remedying a blood clot that was found in his leg.

One game back and he’s knocked out again for another month with a lower body injury.

When he returned he finished the first year of his new contract 19 games with 2 assists.

In a very short AHL stint he had a goal and five assists in 4 games.

That was the last he would see of the minors.

It wasn’t the last he’d see of the injury bug though. He started the season just fine but in early January went down, tried a return in March and that was it for 2014/2015.

He finished playing 42 games with 2 goals and 4 assists.

The 26-year old, 7th year vet wasted little time in his first unrestricted free agency signing for another pair of years to stay put and continue development with the only team’s he’s ever known.
