Pheonix-Copley

Washington Capitals‘ undrafted 5th year goaltender Pheonix Copley(1) nets himself a nice new 3-year deal worth $1.1M AAV keeping him in the system through 2022.

He has ascended to full-time back-up duties in the current calendar and has posted a very decent 10-5-3 record with a 2.98 GAA and .903 SV%.

Originally signed by the team after a 2nd solid season at Michigan Tech, he started his pro career on an ato with affiliate South Carolina Stingrays playing 3 ECHL games and one in the playoffs.

The North Pole, Alaska native was stellar as a rookie for farm club Hershey Bears but got traded to St. Louis Blues in the summer afterwards.

He would continue to dominate the AHL for Chicago Wolves for the next year and a half but was shipped back to D.C. in a deadline deal.

The 27-year old make the cut for opening night roster with the parent club and is not looking back.
