Undrafted 5th year left wing Turner Elson(15) was left unqualified for a 2nd time by Colorado Avalanche after signing a 1-year 2-way deal on opening day of unrestricted free agency.
He skated only 13 AHL games with affiliate San Antonio Rampage last season as he was fallen by a lower body injury for most of the campaign.
The 6′ 190 lbs. high energy player was left unsigned following his third year with original squad Calgary Flames, where he played in a career high 63 games with farm club Stockton Heat scoring a new best 16 assists and tying his 30 point mark.
He also earned his first game with the big club in 2015/2016 and got himself a helper.
As a rookie, he was reassigned further down to Alaska Aces for 18 ECHL games and was virtually a point-per-game performer, then continued to put up points in the playoffs en route to winning the 2014 Kelly Cup Championship.
Although the 25-year old was cut loose, he had no problem finding another suitor, securing a 1-year 2-way deal with Detroit Red Wings.
Sent to the minors a few days before the start of the new calendar, he got right to work with Grand Rapid Griffins and already has a goal and 4 assists in 2 appearances.
He’s letting his new team know he’s ready for more at the highest level.
