Kevin-Tansey

Undrafted 4th year defenseman Kevin Tansey(4) leaves for Erstebank Eishockey Liga to skate for Orli Znojmo.

The big 6’4″ 220 lbs. blue liner was under contract with Toledo Walleye last season but loaned to Grand Rapid Griffins, who he was signed to in 2017/2018, and Stockton Heat for 15 AHL games grabbing a career best 2 goals and 2 assists.

He spent five years at Clarkson University but was unable to play one campaign and in Detroit Red Wings training camp on a tryout.

The 26-year old should find Austria to be a good place to continue to pursue his pro hockey career.

Matt-Brown

UMass-Lowell left wing Matt Brown(41) was an invite to 2019 Boston Bruins‘ development camp roster and was photographed playing catch with a puck.

After consistent 18U scoring seasons for New Jersey Rockets, then a breakout campaign in tier 3 junior hockey EHL, he agreed to college and was sent to Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL but left after 6 games to join with great success (16-25-41 in 41 games) Odessa Jackalopes in the NAHL.

The 19-year old should excel nicely and grow his game in college.

John-Beecher

Boston Bruins‘ 1st round pick in the 2019 draft (#30 overall) center John Beecher(45) gets a first look from fans at the recent development camp.

The Elmira, NY native has spent the last couple of seasons with the USNTDP but will head to University Of Michigan.

There’s little doubt watching the 6’3″ 209 lbs. forward at the final day’s scrimmage that he competes hard and possesses the ability to score.

He’s only 18-years old.

Philip-McRae

10th year center Philip McRae(14) signs to Orli Znojmo of EBEL for 2019/2020 after a season which he seemed to struggle on the scoresheet with Schwenninger Wild Wings (5-7-12).

He took a season back in North America with Hartford Wolf Pack playing a career high, full schedule of 76 AHL games but decided on a return to Liiga for the follow-up campaign.

The 29-year old will likely find scoring easier in Austria’s top league and may just stick there until he retires but could also come back, wooed by a coaching opportunity.

Carl-Hagelin

Washington Capitals‘ 9th year left wing Carl Hagelin(62) gets a nice 4-year, $11M extension to stick after playing 20 games last season scoring 3 goals and 8 assists when a near trade deadline deal sent him to his third team in 2018/2019.

The 30-year old has 546 NHL games to his credit with 93 goals, 148 assists and a massive +90 rating.

He also has 24 game-winning tallies and is usually good for 30+ points a season but will need to put in the work to elevate his play back to that level or will split back to Sweden’s top league, SHL a rich and happy guy.

Calvin-deHaan2

Chicago Blackhawks‘ 9th year defenseman Calvin de Haan(44) gets traded in the offseason after only one season of a 4-year deal with Carolina Hurricanes scoring a goal and 13 assists with a +1 rating before appearing in a career high 12 playoff games adding one tally.

After 7 campaigns in draft club New York Islanders‘ system, he’s played exclusively in the NHL since 2014/2015 but has yet to open up scoring like he did in his first and third year of juniors with Oshawa Generals of the OHL but always seems to be a threat and is mostly a + rating player.

The 28-year old may be ready to assume a top four role and some consistent increased minutes.

Stefan-Elliott2

9th year defenseman Stefan Elliot(29) leaves again after a season back under contract to Pittsburgh Penguins but ultimately dealt to Ottawa Senators, where he appeared in three more NHL games scoring an assist but spent most of the time with affiliate Belleville Senators.

The 6’1″ 190 lbs. blue liner signs with Dinamo Minsk returning to the KHL for the first time since 2016/2017, when he spent a season with Ak Bars Kazan.

He switched it up in the next campaign to skate for HV71 of the SHL before returning to North America on two-way deal.

A two-time WHL Most Goals By A Defenseman winner, 2010/2011 Most Points and Top D-man was always a good scorer for Saskatoon Blades.

The 28-year old Colorado Avalanche 2nd round pick in the 2009 draft (#49 overall) has played 87 NHL (8-17-25) games for 4 teams and 298 in the AHL (58-84-142) and should do well in his 2nd tour of Russia’s top league.

Troy-Bourke

6th year center Troy Bourke(2) takes a career ECHL year scoring 11 goals and 34 assists for 45 points in 30 games with a +11 rating to Schwenninger Wild Wings of DEL for 2019/2020.

Originally a Colorado Avalanche 3rd round pick in the 2012 draft (#72 overall), he spent three years in their system but was left unqualified as his entry level deal was up.

He followed up signing a pair of contracts with Syracuse Crunch but mostly split time between leagues.

The 5’10” 178 lbs. forward was a very decently prolific scorer through 4 seasons with Prince George Cougars of the WHL but through 237 AHL games has been less lucky as he has been in the lower league, where he basically dominated.

It will be little surprise to see him light the lamp big in Germany’s top league.
